Putting the Flower Back into Power!

Welcome web-travelers to the home of Sunflower Sutra - Seattle's very own purveyors of psychedelic rock 'n' roll. Since May of 2002, Sunflower Sutra has offered music-lovers an assortment of aural delights, borrowing inspiration from jazz, blues, soul, funk, and world music to make great original tunes. Look for us around town and tune in for a blast from the not-so-distant past.

Jose has returned to Spain.  We had a last hurrah at EMP's Liquid Lounge, and he's in Madrid now, studying traditional Spanish guitar technique.  And you thought he kicked ass before!?!

That show was also Rene's last show, as he has decided to pursue other musical endeavors.   We'll be sure to keep everyone abreast of his whereabouts so that we can cheer him on in whatever he's doing.

Hannah has also left the band, but Zippy and Leland remain, and will begin rebuilding with renewed vigor.

So, Sunflower Sutra is in limbo as we rebuild and rework where we are.  Guitarists, Keyboardists, Drummers, and multi-instrumentalists (preferably any of whom could also sing) are encouraged to contact us for an audition.

In the meantime, we'll get the website all caught up (the archives are quite out of date) and get the band moving again soon.
